According to a Turnmills statement the night will be a festive celebration, and hint broadly that they will be playing "some new stuff". It is unclear whether they are referring to material of their own, but they are understood to have been working on new songs according to the NME. The statement reads: "We’re treating it as our Christmas party and it’s at a venue we love, with a line-up of our favourite DJs on board for the night. We’re really looking forward to playing some new stuff and getting stuck in."

According to the Chems' official website "If previous Glint's are anything to go by, it is likely that those attending will also be treated to early airings of Chemical Brothers' 'work-in-progress'."

Glint was created as a chance to do something different from the usual two hour club set. Tom and Ed promoted the parties themselves and held them in the basement of a West London tapas bar which had been decked-out for the night with a strobe light, dry-ice machine and bass bins. This time around, the idea is to do the same thing but on a slightly grander scale in the much larger basement that is Turnmills - East London institution and for the band, scene of many a lost weekend during the Social reign in the late '90's.

The event, which runs from 10pm until 5.30am, is the latest in the series of Glint evenings which Tom and Ed Chemical have promoted and it is also being used to raise awareness of the new appeal for the Barts Cancer Centre Of Excellence, based in Farringdon in London, close to Turnmills. The Chemical Brothers are to release a seven track US-only EP in November. The EP will be called "American EP", and will feature rare and unreleased mixes from the "Come With Us" album. It will feature 5 audio tracks and 2 enhanced video tracks. Three of the tracks are previously unreleased including a new mix of "Star Guitar", a rare remix of "Hoops" (entitled "Electronic Battle Weapon 6") and a live track (the hybrid of "Star Guitar" and New Order's "Temptation"). Also included is the "Come With Us (H Foundation Mix)" making its debut appearance on CD, the B-side H.I.A. and the award winning videos for "The Test" and "Star Guitar". Tracklisting:

Meanwhile, the duo is considering two production opportunities, one with Blur and the other with Jeff Beck. The Chemical Brothers are the latest in a string of acts to be linked to the Blur recordings, after Fatboy Slim was recently rumoured to be set to work with Damon Albarn and co.

Speaking to Rolling Stone in the US about their plans for the future and the follow-up to this year's 'Come With Us', Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands dropped a big hint about Blur. Ed Simons explained: "They want us to listen to some music they're making with the possibility of producing or co-producing with them". Speaking about their plans for new recordings, Simons suggested the Chemical Brothers were keen to move away from working with established music heroes and introduce some fresh talent to the world. "I think it'd be great to find someone - to get someone strange out of Rough Trade Records and pursue it from there rather than work with these big iconic figures", suggested Simons. "I loved working with Richard Ashcroft, Noel Gallagher and Bernard Sumner, but it'd just be cool to do someone people have never heard of".

Travis have been forced to cancel their headline slot on the V stage after drummer Neil Primrose injured his spine. Festival organiser Bob Angus says V2002 moved as quickly as possible to ensure the quality of the programme did not drop and a further big act is now to be announced on August 2.

"Following their hugely acclaimed performance at T In The Park in front of 55,000 people the Chemical Brothers have switched to headline the V Stage in place of Travis." says Angus. "We have acted quickly to rework the bill to ensure that V-goers will still get a fantastic line up."

According to MTV News, The Chemical Brothers wish to go back into the studio shortly to record a new single. Tom and Ed have been working on developing some new material live, on their recent world tour, and now want to go into the studio and record it. Planet Dust can confirm that The Chems have already booked studio time in the Miloco studios, where the "Come With Us" album was recorded. 

The Chems will more than likely try to release it in time for the Ibiza season. Tom Rowlands told MTV Playing live is good because it shows you what people react to, what works. Our music is very energetic. It's made to be listened to by a lot of people. Sometimes it just reminds you of the certain power."

Tom and Ed are also interested in producing an album for another artist, although the "right one" has not yet cropped up. According to Ed "We would have to find an artist who we're really excited about so there would be a point to it. I'm very intrigued to hear this Fatboy Slim / Blur thing. I can't imagine what it will sound like."

Tom and Ed recently produced Beth Orton's "Daybreaker" track from her new album, and New Order's fantastic "Here To Stay" single.

The Chemical Brothers will play Plaza Toreo in Mexico City on Tuesday April 30th as part of their 2002 World Tour. 

The Chems have also been confirmed for the V2002 festival in August. They will play at the Hylands Park in Chelmsford venue on Saturday August 17th, and the following night, Sunday August 18th, at Weston Park Stafford. Other acts confimed include Groove Armada, Primal Scream, Supergrass and Badly Drawn Boy.

The Chemical Brothers are to headline this years T In The Park festival along with the Foo Fighters. The annual event takes place in Balado, Perthshire, Scotland, on July 13th & 14th. The event last year attracted 100,000 festival goers.

The Chemical Brothers have also completed their first series of concerts in Japan, Australia and New Zealand as part of their 2002 World Tour. The setlists have been a mixture of old and new tunes, and was similar throughout the venues. The setlist from Brisbane, Australia, on Monday 4th March, was as follows (may not be exact order):

The four tracks had been whittled down over the preceding four months from every Chems track ever released. Back in September 2001, visitors to the site voted for the best track on "Exit Planet Dust", which turned out to be "Life Is Sweet". In October, "The Private Psychedelic Reel" was chosen as the best track on "Dig Your Own Hole". November saw "The Sunshine Underground" top the "Surrender" poll. Finally in December, fans voted for the best non-album Chems track, which turned out to be "Morning Lemon".

The final poll was extended to be open for two months. "The Private Psychedelic Reel" received 44% of the vote. "The Sunshine Underground" was second, but quite a bit behind, at 22%. "Morning Lemon" took 19% of the vote, and "Life Is Sweet" 16%.

As previously reported in Planet Dust, the b-side to "It Began In Afrika", called "Hot Acid Rhythm", is being reworked with a vocal from US rap star Eve. The track is now set to appear on the soundtrack to the Blade 2 film, which stars Wesley Snipes. Also on the soundtrack will be collaborations between Ice Cube and Paul Oakenfold and also Mos Def and Gorillaz.

The 2002 Coachella Festival, a US dance music festival, will be taking place this year on April 27th. The Chemical Brothers are rumoured to be headlining the event with a live performance.

As previously reported in Planet Dust intelligence last October, the collaboration between The Chemical Brothers and New Order, entitled "Here To Stay", will be released as the next New Order single later in the Spring. The track will also be part of the soundtrack to the "24 Hour party People" film about Manchester club The Hacienda, according to the NME.

The Chemical Brothers are very likely to be Number 1 in the UK album charts come next Sunday, with their new album, "Come With Us". It is currently selling almost double the amount of copies of the next highest seller this week, "Just Enough Education To Perform", from the Stereophonics.

On Friday night last, January 25th, The Chemical Brothers attended one of the two official launch parties, in Barcelona, Spain. David Vidal was there, and submitted this review to Planet Dust:

I was surprised with this presentation and how the Chems choose only Paris and Barcelona for this "Come With Us" launch party. The event was only for press and also around 250 people who got tickets through local radio stations winning some competitions. So it was not really difficult to got in if you worked it out well.

During the day Tom & Ed offered several interviews to the press. The venue opened at 9:15 pm in "La Paloma";  a huge and beautiful club inspired by the dance halls of the Spain of the 60s. A DJ (no idea who he was) started to spin some phat tracks, while some waiters offered free (yes, free!) champagne to all the attendees!
The Chemical Brothers came on at 10:20pm. The crowd went mad. It was the first time that Tom & Ed have  spun in Spain (with the exception of the  Benicassim Festival). My surprise was to see that weren't any security people. Tom and Ed were accessible to all, it was easy to go near the decks and say something to them or just to get a record signed. Tom and Ed were very receptive, and they did not mind stopping to sign discs and to salute whatever who approached the decks, they had no pretensions, were really down to Earth.

The set was really different of any I've listen before, and probably the best of all. They started with "Come with US",  followed by "Song to the Siren". From the forthcoming LP they just played this first track, along with "Star Guitar",  and a darker and harder version of "It Began In Africa", mixed with Underworld's "Kittens". They didn't play many of their own records after that, just "Studio K", Fatboy's "Song for Shelter" remix and "Hey Girl Hey Boy". Another surprise came near the end of the set, when the earlier version of "Hey Girl Hey Boy" started to sound followed by the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper", just exactly as in the Anti- Nazi mix! Chems played tons of old and good stuff like Micronauts, DBX, Orbital, Emmanuel Top "Lobotomie", FC Kahuna, and lots more (I would pay for that set tracklist!!!).  At 12:30am the Chems finished the set with "Hey Girl Hey Boy", after more than two hours of a set.

All these old tracks,  felt like a 95 Chem's set, along with the special atmosphere that was present there, contributed to a magical night for many of the people there!

After that some DJ's mixed good breakbeat and deep-house tracks till' 6am, but I was really tired, so it was time to come back home!

The other one and Dougal are back. While their short spell at the vanguard of the movement they called 'indie-dance' may have long since drawn to a close, the Chemicals remain fiercely committed to making dance records for people whose idea of a club is something wrapped in chocolate with raisins in it. Snobbish abuse aside, 'Star Guitar' actually isn't all that bad. It goes up, up, up, wiiinnnddddsss dooooowwwwnnnnn dramatically and gradually develops into the sort of blissful Balearic bobbins Paul Oakenfold used to slap on to the wrong side of rubbish indie records in the early 1990s. They won't thank us for this, but it's really, really nice.
